2012 Draft Review

Posted By: raidergoo

Here's a look into the Wayback Machine, the 1st round of the 2012 eMLB Draft!

1- Cleveland Pitcher Matt Cain

Matt Cain was the first pick of the 2012 draft, and his career got off to a fantastic start. In the majors in just 13 months, Cain was 3-3 in 7 starts in 2013. Since then, he has been plauged like Egypt. He had a slight rotator cuff tear that was surgically repaired in 2014, causing him to miss half the season. In 2015, he was a dominant force, winning 19 games, and looking damn ...read more.

TWIRLers-Castro Rewriting Record Books

Kansas City's 28 year-old catcher Ramon Castro is no longer under the radar. The former 2011 2d round pick (33rd overall and 4th catcher) is having a year unprecedented for a catcher. He is currently leading the American League with a .363 average and 35 home runs while he is 3rd in RBIs with 87. Triple Crown? No catcher has ever won the Triple Crown but Castro has a legitimate shot. What with the Red Sox' Jeff Francoeur winning last year, this could be the first time since Frank Robinson and Carl Yastrzemski went back to back in 1966 and 1967. "The fact that he has only started 80 games this year and has never played more than 138 in a season probably means he'll fall short", said his hitting coach Andre David, "but he'll have as good...read more.

A Look back on 2010 Draft (11-20)

A continueation of my little lookback on the 2010 draft.

1-10

11. 1B Travis Hafner – ARI: Hafner was OSA’s #11 player in the draft and with Howard going 6th, Hafner was still available for the Diamondbacks at this spot. It looked like a good pick early on. Travis was in Arizona by his 2nd year, before being moved to Tampa in 2012. During his first 3 seasons in the bigs, he had a .270+ average and an OPS over .870, but each season was cut short by injuries (including a fractured cheekbone in 201...read more.

TWIRLers-Who Will Be the Beast of the NL East

Posted By: RoyalsGM

The National League East is shaping up to be the best pennant race in a long time. Florida currently leads the division by a 1/2 game over Atlanta and 1.5 games over Washington. Let's take a closer look:

Florida. 43-31. The team has cooled down after a blistering hot 20-7 May. Their 395 runs are 8th best in the NL while their 343 runs allowed are the 3rd lowest. Interestingly, they have the 2nd best batting average in the NL but it isn't translating into runs scored.
The pitching staff is led by 29 year-old lefty and former Cy Young winner Gerald Johnson. Two seasons removed from his Cy Young season (24-6/2.34), he is 6-6 with a 3.28 ERA. Starters Eugenio Mayorga and Eddie Donahue have been consistent but 23 ...read more.
